We are passionate about Literacy and Speech Technology. Ortho-GraphiX® powers is a specialised word-mapping system developed in the UK with Innovate UK funding in 2024 by educators and researchers to make the relationship between speech and print visible. It powers technologies including MyWordz® with MySpeekie®, enabling children to see which letters form graphemes and the speech sounds they represent, while allowing speech-sound input using Phonemies® rather than conventional alphabet keyboards. Designed to support early readers, neurodivergent learners and children with speech, language and communication needs, MySpeekie® has been recognised by Innovate UK for its potential to improve communication and literacy outcomes. In 2026, Emma Hartnell-Baker was recognised as a Highly Commended recipient in the Innovate UK Women in Innovation Awards and will receive a further 12 months of support to further develop the MySpeekie® system.
